Media Release: Nationwide march to flood Melbourne and 27 cities & towns
9 October 2025 – for immediate release
This Sunday (12/10) another Nationwide March for Palestine will flood the streets of more than 27 cities and towns across Australia, marking two years of the genocide in Gaza. Full list of participating marches below. Hundreds of thousands are expected to march.
The march is initiated by all major Palestine organising groups nationwide.
It will demand that the Australian government:
- Sanction Israel NOW
- Stop the two way arms trade with Israel
- No to Trump’s plan to take over Gaza
Mai Saif, a Palestinian organiser of the Melbourne march said:
“Two years into this genocide we will flood the streets of more than 23 cities and towns across Australia with mass solidarity marches. We have a clear message to all those who are disturbed by the starvation, the bombings, the slaughter: now is the time to join us in the streets. If you’ve never been to a protest before, Sunday is the day to march alongside us.This country must show that we will not stand for even one more life lost.”
Basil El Ghattis, a Palestinian organiser of the Melbourne march, said:
“Israel’s abduction of participants in the Sumud Flotilla that attempts to provide aid to a starving civilian population serves as proof of its genocidal intent against the Palestinians and its denial of not only Palestinian rights, but human rights altogether. The international community and its institutions that failed the Palestinians for two years by the lack of tangible action, has failed the participants of the flotilla and continues to double down on its failure by imposing solutions on the Palestinians that satisfy Israel’s genocidal objectives.
“From recognising an imaginary Palestinian state to supporting Trump’s colonial “peace” plan as a response to Israel’s atrocities over the last two years, world governments are proving their complicity by choosing political stunts and imposing “solutions” on the Palestinians, over holding war criminals to account and and imposing sanctions on a genocidal regime.
“This is not a fight for the rights of Palestinians only, it’s a fight for all humans and the generations that follow.”
