Media Release: Free Palestine Melbourne Demands Cancellation of Infected Mushroom Gig
9 October – for immediate release
Free Palestine Melbourne has written to Jason Marriner, the CEO of Marriner Group and the owner of The Forum Theatre, requesting that he cancel the performance of nationalist Israeli psytrance musicians Infected Mushroom at The Forum on 3 November 2025.
“Infected Mushroom has supported the Palestinian genocide for the past two years by headlining shows in illegal Jewish settlements and producing extremist nationalist music with visuals with maps that completely erase the Occupied Palestinian Territories,” said Adnan Mansour of Free Palestine Melbourne. “We call upon Mr Marriner to urgently cancel this performance, lest he permanently damage The Forum’s reputation by associating it with these cultural emissaries of Israel’s apartheid regime.”
In July, Infected Mushroom withdrew from the Earth Frequency music festival because it requested that all participating artists sign a statement pledging their support for First Nations sovereignty and opposing all forms of “racism and oppression — including antisemitism, Islamophobia, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and other forms of hate.”
Free Palestine Melbourne has not ruled out mobilising against the performance if it goes ahead.
“The struggle for a Free Palestine continues. Until Israel allows unfettered access to Gaza and ceases its colonisation of Palestine, we will continue our work of broadening and deepening the Palestine solidarity movement. This means keeping toxic groups like Infected Mushroom out of Melbourne,” Mansour said.
