No laughing matter

David Penberthy is absolutely correct (“Jerry’s funny but anti-Semitic idiots no laughing matter”, SHS, 30/6).

Let’s get this straight.

From the foundation of the modern state of Israel, in 1948, repeated attempts have been made (by successive governments) to exchange territory for peace.

This land swap was intended to enable a Palestinian state to be officially recognised.

Every generous submission, putting Israel’s border security at severe risk, was refused.

Successive Arab authorities have ruled that the Palestinian sector will not broker any deal with the Jewish state. They demand its elimination.

These terrorist affiliated groups are in contempt of liberal democratic freedoms, globally.

This is demonstrated in extremist left wing racist violence against members of the Jewish faith.

Penberthy states, in part, with respect to the attack on Josh Burns’ office, “They’re the enemies of Palestinian statehood and freedom as all they do is diminish themselves and their cause.”

Hamas and its affiliates glorify the suffering and death of Palestinian Gazans as well as Israelis.

Food and supplies are regularly stolen and hospitals and schools are their refuge.

Release of tortured hostages will end the war but respect for humanity is alien to Hamas’s agenda, as we have seen repeatedly.
