Snap Action 14 Jan 2026: Solidarity with the British hunger strikers

Britain must accept their demands and end the torture

📍 1 Collins Street, Melbourne 3000
📆 5pm, Wednesday 14 January 2026

Three Palestine solidarity activists who are on hunger strike in Britain are on the brink of death.

Heba Muraisi, Kamran Ahmed and Lewie Chiaramello have been staging their protest for more than two months – in the case of Muraisi more than 70 days.

A fourth prisoner, Teuta Hoxha, ended her strike after 58 days. She could suffer lifelong health effects.

The government’s own guidelines say no one should be held in prison on remand for more than six months.

Muraisi and Ahmed are not due to be tried until June at the earliest, which means they will have been remanded for 20 months. Chiaramello has a provisional court date in January 2027, which for him means 18 months in prison without trial.

The British government is treating them like terrorists and refusing to discuss their demands.

But they are not accused of terrorism – Muraisi and Ahmed are alleged to have broken into a factory run by Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer.

Chiaramello is alleged to have entered RAF Brize Norton during a protest in which warplanes were sprayed with paint.

They are members of Palestine Action, which was named a terrorist organisation after the offences for which they are charged. Since then, some 2500 people have been arrested for peacefully and publicly supporting Palestine Action.

The hunger strikers are calling for:

  • release on bail
  • the right to a fair trial (they claim the government has withheld key documents)
  • lifting the ban on Palestine Action
  • shutting down Elbit Systems – which has supplied weapons to a state engaged in genocide – in the UK.

We will gather outside the British Consulate in Naarm/Melbourne, 1 Collins Street in the city, on Wednesday 14 January at 5pm in solidarity.

We will demand that the British government meet the hunger strikers’ demands.
