Misusing term

To describe Israel’s actions towards Palestinians as “apartheid” demonstrates a fundamental misuse of the term that originated to describe the institutionalised segregation of South Africa’s white and nonwhite citizens (Letters, 18/12). Gazan and West Bank Palestinians are not Israeli citizens. Israel’s Arabs have the same legal rights as its Jews; just one of the reasons why human rights NGOs such as Freedom House rate Israel far higher than all other Middle Eastern nations.
