University Demonstrations

Unis fostering hate

I thought universities were there to teach people a trade, and students were there to learn.

I wonder if there are any students studying history? True history that is, not that which socialists push on us.

The pro-Palestine protesters are achieving nothing in their efforts to cause chaos, except to anger decent citizens going about their business.

It is not in the university remit to allow the fostering of hate, hysteria and anarchy, or the forcing of their views on other people.

Do they really think that politicians will be moved by their chanting?

Some of these cowards with their faces covered have crossed the line between “free speech” and causing angst and fear to others.

It would be more noble if these keffiyeh wearing protesters actually travelled to Gaza and used their enthusiasm to work and help the suffering of these people who do not have the food and homes to go to like they do.

J.A. Verity, Glen Waverley

Protesters ignorant

I support the right to peaceful protest but as an Australian who has travelled to many Middle Eastern countries I’m gobsmacked at the pro-Palestinians’ total lack of knowledge.

Gaza has basically no rights for women and many of these protesters are women.

If you were protesting or a gay in Gaza, Hamas would behead you if you were caught. Basic human rights aren’t allowed, especially for women.

Many have come to Australia to get away from this and live a peaceful life.

These people are now being persecuted by brainwashed Facebook followers, teachers who obviously have never been to Gaza or Israel and protesters who seem to believe social media and university teachers’ rubbish.

Before you go out to protest for Hamas please do some homework.

Imagine your life as a woman with no rights if you lived in Gaza, which is controlled by Hamas.

Talk about getting things wrong, and yes I do think Israel has gone the wrong way and killed too many innocent people, but that doesn’t stop Hamas atrocities and the fact they started this war.

Imagine being at a concert and being bombed, raped or killed by Hamas. That’s how this started.

Do your homework and stop being brainwashed sheep.

Radicals want unrest

To answer Margaret Lomas’s letter (“Where’s Ukraine”, HS, 6/5), Ukraine is not a predominantly Muslim country, as there are only 500,000 Muslims in Ukraine therefore no demonstrations for them.

Hamas will not come to the peace table which makes a mockery of these idiots who rant and rave in our streets and are that cowardly that they cover their faces.

The power hungry radicals of this world will never settle for peace.

Patricia Correa, Traralgon

Why are so many pro-Palestinian protesters donning the keffiyehs masks and sunglasses? Does their truth need camouflaging?

Steven Papadopoulos, Greenvale

100 per cent Andrew Bolt (HS 6/5), “Barbarians free to run amok at unis” enabled by weak so-called progressive leaders failing to condemn chanting mobs, too cowardly to even show their faces, in the face of evil terrorist genocide perpetrators Hamas. Meanwhile the kid glove, woke nonsense commitment to politically correct pronouns sees student literacy taking a back seat and the rights of the peaceful majority demands to further their education howled down and trodden on by this rioting disruptive force that needs a full stop.

Gigi, Christmas Hills

Seeing the picture of the Palestinian protesters on Andrew Bolt’s page raised a question. Weren’t face masks/coverings banned? Or was that just for anti-government protests of Covid restrictions?
