Fog of war

Reading Andrew Bolt’s column (C-M, 21/10) regarding Benjamin Netanyahu and the subsequent comments from Steve Pink (Letters, 22/10) and Claire Jolliffe (Letters, 23/10), I must say that the reporting of the success of Netanyahu has shown his powerful response to the vicious attack on civilians on October 7, 2023.

The subsequent deaths of about 130 journalists in Gaza has prevented balanced reporting as the attacks on Gaza continue to take an enormous toll on civilian life, including the deaths of many children.

I watch the interviews with doctors and medical staff who are begging for a stop to the carnage, the like of which they have never seen before.

Surely we must trust the information of those professionals, with no political agenda, who put their own lives at great risk to save others.

Those breaking international law must be stopped and brought to account for the sake of humanity.

Andrew Bolt seeks to rewrite history when he compares Benjamin Netanyahu with Winston Churchill.

This is a fanciful comparison.

Churchill stood up against a Nazi regime which had taken over most of western and central Europe and threatened to go further.

Netanyahu is making war on a terrorist organisation which exists because of a 2000- year-old conflict over a small part of the world, and in so doing has killed tens of thousands of civilians including many children.
